Mirova and BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) have jointly acquired a majority stake in Arkolia, a leading French renewable energy developer, with an investment exceeding €200 million. Arkolia, founded in 2009, specializes in rooftop photovoltaics and is also involved in ground-mounted solar, wind power, and biogas, with over 560 MW of installed capacity as of 2023. The new funding will help Arkolia expand its operations and increase its production capacity, with a goal to reach 1.5 GW by 2030.
Mirova will make the investment through its Mirova Energy Transition Fund 6 (MET6), focused on energy transition infrastructure, while BNP Paribas Asset Management will contribute through its Low Carbon Transition Infrastructure Equity Fund. Both firms aim to support Arkolia’s leadership in the fast-growing French rooftop solar sector and assist in its scaling efforts.
