The LEGO Group has passed a major milestone in its sustainable packaging strategy, announcing that 56 percent of the packing lines that bag LEGO bricks inside boxes now use paper based alternatives instead of single use plastic bags. These new bags, made from FSC certified and recycled materials, mean that 93 percent of LEGO’s packaging by weight is now paper or fibre based, with rollouts nearly complete in factories in China and Vietnam and full implementation targeted for plants in the Czech Republic and Hungary by 2026 and Mexico by 2027.

Beyond replacing plastic, LEGO plans to improve the speed and efficiency of its paper packing lines as part of its broader goals to use more sustainable materials and reduce emissions across its value chain, responding to strong signals from children who say they care about recycling and reducing waste.
